What do i need for a mineral system?

Mineral systems require the following to operate!

  • Any chlorinator – Minerals are compatible with all types of chlorinators available. We recommend a chlorinator that operates between the ranges of 1000ppm – 4000ppm to feel the benefits. A chlorinator that requires a high TDS range presents the potential for staining and scaling with minerals in the water
  • A glass media filter – Minerals are compatible with most types of filters, but for the most optimal operation, we recommend a filter with glass media. If you have a cartridge filter, mineral water may not work for you depending on the size of your cartridge. Due to the flocculent properties of minerals, this would require a larger size cartridge and additional cleaning to operate!
  • Optional but highly recommended – A pH doser. At GDM Pools, we recommend a system to monitor and dose your pool with acid to maintain pH levels. It is important to maintain these levels to avoid staining.

What are the benefits of using pool minerals?

Muscle Relaxation and Stress Relief

  • Magnesium-enriched baths help with skin and muscular disorders by supporting over 300 biochemical processes.
  • Absorbing magnesium through the skin in a mineral pool can relieve muscular pain, boost energy, and improve sleep.
  • MagnaPool systems provide a sodium-free option that enhances these benefits.

Less Skin Irritation

  • Magnesium chloride and potassium chloride hydrate and soothe skin, improving elasticity and reducing wrinkles.
  • Mineral baths can reduce eczema severity and minimize reliance on cortisone creams.
  • Minerals also benefit hair, leaving it smooth and conditioned.

Bather Comfort

  • High magnesium concentration makes water soft and silky.
  • Reduced chloramines decrease skin, eye, and lung irritation, allowing for comfortable swimming without goggles.

Cleaner Pool

  • Magnesium acts as a natural flocculant, keeping water clearer.
  • Recycled glass media in filters prevent bacterial growth and provide superior filtration compared to sand.

Better for Equipment

  • Magnesium helps prevent scaling, protecting pipes, filters, and pool shells, thus enhancing equipment longevity.

Easier Maintenance

  • Automated systems manage water chemistry, reducing manual effort.
  • Magnesium filtration minimises the need for clarifiers or flocculants, simplifying maintenance.

No Chlorine Odours

  • Mineral pools use less chlorine, producing fewer chloramines and eliminating unpleasant chlorine smells.

Water Savings

  • Glass filtration media and magnesium’s flocking abilities reduce water consumption.
  • MagnaPool systems allow backwash water to be used for irrigation, benefiting plant growth.

Bottom Line
Converting your traditional pool to a mineral pool offers a wide range of benefits. From improved water quality and reduced chemical usage to a more natural swimming experience and potential health benefits, mineral pools are a smart choice for any pool owner. Not to mention, they require less maintenance and can save you money in the long run.

So why not take the plunge and switch to a mineral pool? Your skin, your wallet, and the environment will thank you!

What are the differences between Salt and Minerals?

There are a few types of combinations and differences between mineral and salt solutions for your pool! Here they are

Salt – Saltwater pools require a level of salt to be maintained in the water to enable the production of chlorine inside the chlorinator.

MagnaPool – MagnaPool minerals use Potassium Chloride in place of salt for the production of chlorine inside the chlorinator. With a blend of magnesium and potassium, a luxury swimming experience is achieved!

Salt and Mineral blends – Salt and mineral blends include Sodium Chloride (Salt) and Magnesium for the production of chlorine. This is not a true mineral experience, but will enhance the feeling of your swimming experience with some more added benefits.

At GDM we strongly promote the use of MagnaPool minerals. It is not only a truly unique product, but also the only system that is sodium free, as all other systems use sodium as their basis to generate chlorine.

Thinking about going with a salt and mineral blend? Well, if you are after a cheaper entry-level offering, saltwater pools have a tendency to cling to the hair follicles and can sometimes leave that sticky feeling, this does not happen in MagnaPool. All mineral pool systems have their upsides, but if you are looking for the best, the original system that started it all, look no further than MagnaPool, the only true authentic mineral pool available
